RE: Gasoline vs. Diesel prices

Biodiesel made from algea is the answer. Yields more gallons of oil per acre than any other plant and can be harvested many times per year. the only catch is if big oil get their hands in the algea before it can make a difference.

RE: Gasoline vs. Diesel prices

I have heard 2 theories on this. One is the oil industries realize that there is a group of smaller diesel cars and trucks coming to market (Honda, Dodge, Ford) and they want to keep a bad taste in consumers mouths concerning diesel prices to keep sales down as a diesel is more efficient and uses less fuel. The second is much heating oil (basically no. 2 diesel) has been bought up by many investments firms keeping prices artificially high. Example: the largest holder of heating oil in the New England states in Morgan Stanley.
I am tired of excuses such as low sulfer costs more to refine or winter blend costs more. BS! They may cost a little more but not this much!

RE: Bristol Race Camping

We stayed at Beaver Creek Campground about 1 mile from the track. It is on the creek with some full hookups. Terry is the owners name.

RE: older cummins isb

Our 92 rig has the 190 hp version of the 5.9 and it has been great for 2 years now with 83k miles on the clock. I did have to replace my exhaust manifold also.

RE: Speedometer Acting Up

I was wandering what type of sensor it was also. It looks like a pickup in the trans going into a box.

Speedometer Acting Up

Took our 92 DP out for a drive Saturday and the speedometer was working and then it would stop. The odometer did the same. It is a Spartan chassis 5.9 Cummins 4spd Allison combo. It has VDO gauges and I am suspecting a faulty ground. Was just wandering if one one you guys had the same problem and could send me in a proper direction before I go digging into the wiring. Thanks for any help!

RE: NASCAR disappointment at Darlington

I used to follow NASCAR but switched to NHRA drag racing. I just returned from Bristol for the second year and it is much more enjoyable to me. EVERY driver is accessible even with the least expensive ticket, jsut go walking through the pits. I shook alot of hands and got many autographs. I asked one of the workers what the capacity of the drag strip was an they said 25,000. The round track has 160,000 and I just can't understand why there is that much difference in fan base but to each his own.

RE: Anyone cancelling trips due to gas prices?

We almost cancelled our trip to Charleston/Savannah next month and I remembered how much fun it was last year. I will just make more Biodiesel to take with us to offset the cost.

RE: Savannah, GA

What about Rivers End on Tybee Island? We are staying there in June and stayed there last June and really liked it. About 20 min. to Savannah and you can walk to the beach from the campground.

RE: $20k - What would you buy?

About 2 years ago we had the same budget and wanted the most RV for the money. I found a early 90's DP with 78k miles. I just felt more comfortable with the Cummins/Allison combo as it was more important to me to be mechanically sound rather than fancy. As a guy told me, "you'll know it when you see it".

Palmetto Lake RV park in Aiken, SC

Has anyone stayed at the Palmetto Lake RV park in Aiken, SC? If so, I'd appreciate any information about the place. This is our first trip to Charleston and we were looking for a stopping point near Augusta, GA. Thanks!

RE: Tybee Island Campground

We stayed there last June and will be there again this June. We thought the river beach was the nicest place to hang out and the blue crab are all over the place on that side. We had bad luck at the Crab Shack but many others love it. Enjoy!!

RE: Now this is entry level value.

Many people are afraid of a "seasoned" vehicle or rv. But my 16 year old DP makes me proud every time I drive it and the fact that it's paid for really makes me smile. I can also work on the thing without having to hook it up to a computer to diagnose a problem. To each his own.

RE: NHRA Richmond camping

I don't think the NHRA events are near as rowdy as the Nascar events. I have attended Bristol and Memphis NHRA and Talladega, Charlotte and Nashville Nascar and never saw that much partying at the NHRA stuff. Other answers may vary.

RE: Restaurants near Tybee Island Campground

I wish I could say good things about the Crab Shack Last June when we went the not so healthy looking cats roaming around the dining area just did it for me. We got our food to go. There is beach access in walking distance down the side street along the campground. The blue crab fishing was excellent there!!!

RE: Campsites around Scottsboro AL

I live in Winchester just over the mountain. I have heard there is a campground on Keith Springs Mtn. which is just on the TN side of the Walls. I think it is called Circle E guest ranch I looked up the phone #931-962-1790. I think alot of horse riders use it. Now that deer season is over here in TN should be a good time to go hiking. Hope this helps.

RE: 2008 Jeep Liberty Towing Question

My 06 CRD tow my 24' pontoon just fine. And daily driving it has power to spare. I do believe there is more MPG to be had with some tuning and exhaust.

RE: Grayton Beach SP, FL

We stayed a few days on site 31 back in May. It is one of the only sites with a concrete pad. No room for a slide though and barely enough room to get aound to discharge the holding tanks, but we liked it and are going back in April 08. Close to bathhouse adn shady/private.
